PHL Group, Chief People Officer
I have worked in Human Resources for nearly 20 years and have a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the public and private sector including previous experience of working within highly regulated and audited industries such as Environmental and Aviation.
No two roles are the same in the HR world, each business is different, but the overarching similarity is that we are all people with differing needs, strengths and motivations. I see the role of HR to enable organisations to succeed through valuing, recognising and fairly rewarding employees. Gone are the days of HR being the blocker and saying no, I champion the mantra of offering the best service we can which is only enhanced by understanding the business we work within, being very visible and building strong relationships.
By truly caring about our employees and ensuring that PHL is a great place to work where we can enjoy ourselves, take pride in our work and support each other, we will offer the best in patient care. This is something I feel passionate about, without one we don’t have the other and delivering a top in class service to our patients by treating them with dignity and respect we can all feel like we are making a difference.
It is important to have a constant focus on the needs of our patients and customers, in order to achieve this we need to ensure we stay ahead of the game! We will do this by championing creativity and creating a culture where employees feel able to challenge the status quo, by keeping up to date and equipping our employees with the tools they need to stay abreast of technological changes.
If you ask me what my hobbies are I would say spending time with my family, (this is code for running around after a pre schooler) I have been part of a book club for a number of years and always enjoy a meal out.
3 reasons why I love working for PHL Group:
We truly care about our employees and our patients, we have a great team working for PHL and I feel so proud of our achievements to reach as far as Scotland, the Isle of Man and Guernsey.
Team First, our people make it. I have first hand experience of how amazing our teams are and I hear all the time from new starters and existing employees alike, how our team spirit makes this such an amazing place to work.
There is no one size fits all approach, we employ a creative bunch of employees and I love hearing about new ways of working and encouraging Pioneering Innovation. My challenge is to make sure we keep embracing this and make sure we have the skills we need by providing development opportunities for everyone.
