Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre awarded ‘Outstanding’ by CQC

PHL Group are incredibly proud to announce that the Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), operated by PHL Group, has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following their recent assessment. This achievement is a testament to the dedication, expertise and unwavering commitment of the entire UTC team, who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care to the local community.

During the rigorous CQC assessment process, the GP led service was meticulously scrutinised to check the safety and quality of healthcare services. From patient care to operational leadership, with the team demonstrated ‘Outstanding’ standards for the categories of responsive and well-led.

Ross Brand, CEO PHL Group says “We are absolutely thrilled to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, who consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our patients. It also highlights the strength of our partnerships with the Lymington Hospital Friends Charity, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton, whose collaboration has been instrumental in achieving this success.”

Neil Cox, CQC Deputy Director of the South said “I want to congratulate all staff at Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre, who should be extremely proud of the exceptional care they’re providing to people using the service.”

Support from the Hospital Friends plays a vital role in the success of the UTC. In recent years, the Friends have successfully raised funds for additional equipment for the unit which has enabled the UTC to see and treat patients who otherwise would have had to visit Emergency Departments.

Mike Hodges Trustee and Joint Chair of Friends said “as a charity, our main aim is to help the hospital to improve patient care and wellbeing. We are delighted that our fundraising for new diagnostic and monitoring equipment has helped the wonderful UTC team to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC.”

The UTC’s success is also a testament to the strong partnership with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton. By working in partnership, the UTC has been able to deliver an outstanding level of care, which benefits the wider patient community.

Wendy Rees, Director of Operations for Southampton and South West Hampshire, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust said,

“We are delighted that the UTC at Lymington Hospital has achieved an outstanding rating by the CQC. Many patients that attend the UTC require ongoing care that we are able to provide via our diagnostic services and community inpatient and outpatient services.  We are proud to be working in partnership with the PHL Group so we can help offer urgent care for patients in the local community, Southampton, South West Hampshire and parts of Dorset.”

The recognition from the CQC highlights the exceptional level of care provided at the Lymington UTC. But more than that, it reflects our collective commitment as an organisation to deliver outstanding patient care.

This ‘Outstanding’ rating is a milestone for the UTC and PHL Group as a whole. We look forward to continuing to uphold these high standards and building on this success in the future.
