Covid-19 Community Testing Service - Covid Test

Covid Medicines Delivery Unit (CMDU)

PHL Group deliver the Covid medicines delivery unit (CMDU) to high-risk, non-hospitalised NHS patients with COVID-19 in Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The CMDU provides patient contact, triage, and treatment & dispensing to ensure patients do not miss the option of treatment within the confined treatment window.

The CMDU service supports the identification of vulnerable patients and ensures they are protected from the impact of Covid through assessment and treatment, prescribing Neutralising monoclonal antibodies (nMABs). Where treatment with an nMAB is contraindicated or not possible, eligible patients may be offered an antiviral as an alternative. The treatments are a key element in the offer to higher risk patients, reducing hospital admissions and fatalities.

How to access a CMDU service

If you are at the highest risk of getting seriously ill with COVID-19 you can access the CMDU service via 111 or self-referral.

You can find information on conditions considered at highest risk on the NHS England treatments for coronavirus page.

How PHL’s CMDU service Works

Phase One: Referral and Triage

Patients are referred via GP’s and 111 to the online eligibility questionnaire.

Phase Two: Decision to Treat

If eligible, a clinician will review the patients records and contact the patient.

Phase Three: Dispensing, Delivery and Administration

PHL Group work with local NHS Providers for the dispensing and delivery of medications and treatment.

Phase Four: Follow Up and After Care

After phase three, PHL will follow the patient up seven days post treatment. Paediatric patients are followed up by the local NHS trust.
