PHL Group were joined this week by Jess for work experience. One of Jess’s projects was to write this news post for our website. Over to you Jess….
Hello! I am Jess, I am a Year 10 student at Poole High School. I have spent my week with PHL Group for work experience and I have found insight into all different types of jobs that are involved to make the company run properly. All the jobs I have spent time with are all unique into playing apart in the business.
For instance, on Tuesday morning I was with the marketing team and their job is to design and create new ideas that they think would look good in the business whether it be from what paint colour to use, to what their website should say and what images are uploaded. I have been shown how to use different applications that are involved in storing data and files. There have been various other skills that I have learnt along the way within different job roles in the company such as transferring data from one page to another in a specific format, being able to identify the medical boxes and the items that go inside the boxes and being able to experience what it is really like working with other people in a business.
I have enjoyed working with all the different units within the company and it has been an eye opener because I thought it was just going to be an office with synchronised negative emotions towards their work but it was the total opposite, everyone was inviting and friendly towards me, they all were delighted to show me how they worked and explained it in a good manner that I could understand. As well as being hard-working they have been a joyous bunch of teams to work alongside each other, with a good sense of humour that knocks away the expectations of an office to be like.
