Winter is Coming…..

PHL are fully prepared for the cold weather ahead.

PHL has invested heavily into their Home Visiting Service, which now includes six new state-of-the-art 4×4 cars, bringing the fleet to a total of 15 vehicles across 5 sites within Hampshire. With a team of 70 drivers to support this service, PHL are ready to deliver.

All vehicles come fitted with innovative technology to make them safer, more efficient and produce lower emissions.

Roger Bennett, Head of the Home Visiting Service at PHL, said “The British winter season can stretch over a six-month period sometimes so it is vital that our drivers have the equipment they need, to ensure that our clinicians can focus on what they do best, delivering exceptional care to the patients”

This robust home visiting fleet further enhances PHL’s ability to offer face to face patient care in addition to  supporting its telephone triage activity in the Clinical Assessment service (CAS).

Patients can access the service via the NHS 111 service which is operated by our local partners the South Central Ambulance Service.

Following a call back to a patient, the clinician will decide the most appropriate intervention for the patient’s needs – this might be booking the patient a face to face appointment at an Out of Hours Clinic as near to home as possible, or for frail, elderly and housebound members of the population sending a suitably qualified clinician in a PHL car to undertake a home visit.

PHL operate Out of Hours Clinics in Lymington, Ringwood and Winchester and work closely with system partners running clinics in Southampton, Romsey, Totton, Botley, Andover, Southampton, Fareham, Gosport, Waterlooville, Petersfield, Havant and Waterlooville.
